Race:Undead

From the Throes of Corrupt Earth at Saarichs Settlement rise the abomination that is the Undead. History records this event well, all the Kingdoms have documents by the scribes of their age that lay witness to the creation of the Blight. Lord Saarich for want of Immortality studied the Trollish dark arts of Demonology for the entirety of his living days in the Third Realm. His greed for an endless existence saw his exile from the human Kingdoms and his Social Status as a Lord disqualified, this however along with his humiliation and degradation of his family Honour at the hands of Duke Daeryon and his Successor, Prince Jonas did nothing to waylay his studies into the demonic arts. The real reason for the Corruption of the settlement and the surrounding enclave isn't known. Many theories have surfaced in the records of scribes and even from time to time since however none have been proven nor are there willing participants to properly research these theories. The Blight that created the Undead is thought to have been the reason for the Realm Portal collapse and the isolation of the Third Realm from all others.

The Undead that rose from the initial earthen corruption weren't thought to be sentient, apathy and inaction by the Realm Settlers would later lead to the corrupted risen establishing themselves and forming a social hierarchy. This hierarchy of sorts structured a strong enough society to warrant the intervention of the Desert Troll Nomads in the quickening of the population. As the Desert Trolls were the source of Lord Saarich's studies of the demonic powers, they saw fit to correct certain elements of the earthen corruption to allow the sentient blight the gift of memory and emotion not normally afforded to a tortured soul. This series of events would be marked many decades later by the rise of the Undead's first recognised Empire at a pivotal moment known as 'The Quickening of the Damned'

Trolls would jovially refer the quickened Undead to a 'Purified' form of the Human Realm Settlers. The Undead were always accepted by the Desert Trolls and indeed Trolls in general. This acceptance would by association mean their existence was also tolerated by the other Realm Natives, Orcs and Goblins. This key point led to the First Great War of the Third Realm.
